{"id":284,"date":"2010-06-26T08:44:35","date_gmt":"2010-06-26T15:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/?p=284"},"modified":"2010-08-13T23:03:03","modified_gmt":"2010-08-14T06:03:03","slug":"the-lions-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/2010\/06\/the-lions-attempt\/","title":{"rendered":"The Lions (Attempt)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well it&#8217;s June 26th and my friend Shane and I decided to head up to the Lion&#8217;s.\u00a0 They are the more predominate landmarks overlooking\u00a0Vancouver from the North.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0793.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-301\" title=\"SAM_0793\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0793.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trail started out dry enough&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-027.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-293\" title=\"hike 2010 027\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-027.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But soon it turned into a muddy mess as we entered the runoff of the snow pack higher up.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-294\" title=\"hike 2010 025\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-025.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"385\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We crossed a delapitated bridge that was nearly ready to fall apart.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-035.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-297\" title=\"hike 2010 035\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-035.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"387\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Luckily supplies for a NEW bridge were already delivered.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-036.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-298\" title=\"hike 2010 036\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-036.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"288\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-018.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We found deep snow and\u00a0fog\u00a0near the top of the ridge&#8230; The trail became much harder to follow at this point.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-018.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-289\" title=\"hike 2010 018\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/hike-2010-018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Winter still had a grip on the trees up here with sometimes a meter of snow still covering all vegitation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0770.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-295\" title=\"&lt;SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA&gt;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0770.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We didn&#8217;t have much of a view from the top and only made it as far as St. Mark&#8217;s peak. We delayed are decent for about 30mins for some lunch and geocaching in hopes that the fog would clear. It didn&#8217;t clear so we headed back down.<\/p>\n<p>Later on the\u00a0trail\u00a0some sunny breaks appeared.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0798.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-300\" title=\"SAM_0798\" src=\"http:\/\/www.myflytie.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/SAM_0798.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We never made it over Unnecessary Mountain or the base of the Lions..
